Evening at Datai beach, Langkawi
The beach at Langkawi’s Datai bay has a well deserved reputation as one of the prettiest in Asia (and by extension, the world). This crescent shaped stretch of soft white sand and clear aquamarine waters is backed by a lush rainforest and fronted by unhindered views of Thailand’s Ko Tarutao islands. Apart from being a picture-postcard setting, the area is a naturalist’s delight, being home to a range of flora and fauna. Access to the beach, however, is largely restricted to guests and visitors at one of the two upscale resorts at either end of the beach – both well worth the expense.
